“Balance for Better” what?

I just discovered the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD2019) “Balance for Better!” and it got me thinking…balance for better what? Balance begins with YOU! How you feel as you navigate through life’s transitions is a personal journey and your self-care is at the very core of this feeling. Self-care, or care provided for you, by you is about identifying your needs and taking responsibility in making daily choices about lifestyle with things like nutrition, activity, sleep and that allow you to feel balanced. When you feel your best, you operate on a higher level and move through life on an equilibrium and only from that point can you benefit your life and exponentially the lives of others. Empowerment 2017! (1 of 2)

I would define Personal Empowerment as “feeling powerful enough to truly own our lives the way we want to”. It involves developing the confidence and strength to take charge and set realistic goals to fulfill our potential. In my experience, developing personal empowerment involves making some fundamental changes in our lives and is not static but an ongoing process as circumstances change and as we ourselves change. The process is not always easy and many of us need support to know where to begin. There are many techniques for building confidence and strength but I believe that the foundation of all self-empowerment must start with personal self-care.
